Voyager Mission Operations Status Report # 2009-08-28,  Week Ending  August 28, 2009

Command Transmission & Verification Operations

Voyager 1 command operations consisted of the uplink of a Command Loss Timer Reset on 08/26 [DOY 238/1515z].  The spacecraft received the command.

There were no command operations in support of Voyager 2 during the period.

Sequence Generation Operations

Continue sequence development of HPOINT Table update (part 2).  Start sequence development of CCSL A073.

Data Return Operations

Voyager 1 Data Processing and Operations:

There were 92.3 hours of DSN scheduled support for Voyager 1 of which 44.3 hours were large aperture coverage. There were two schedule and one real-time support change made.  The first two schedule changes released station DSS-45 support to LCRO.  On 08/23 [DOY 235] 1.8 hours and on 08/26 [DOY 238] 2.8 hours of support were released.   The real-time change on 08/28 [DOY 240] substituted 0.9 hours of DSS-26 support in place of DSS-14 down due to a red antenna, DR G109653.  The total actual support for the period was 87.7 hours of which 43.4 hours were large aperture coverage.  There were no significant outages during the period.

Science instrument performance was nominal for all activities during this period.  One frame of GS-4 data was recorded this week.  A second frame of GS-4 data was recorded on August 28.  The EDR backlog is 9 day.

Voyager 2 Data Processing and Operations:

There were 58.8 hours of DSN scheduled support for Voyager 2 of which 11.6 hours were large aperture coverage. There were six schedule changes releasing support to LCRO on successive days.  The first change on 08/22 [DOY 234] released 6.4 hours of DSS-45support.  The next day 08/23 [DOY 235] 7.4 hours of DSS-34 support was released.  The following day 08/24 [DOY 236] 5.5 hours of DSS 45 support was released. On 08/25 [DOY 237] 9.5 hours of DSS-34 support was released. On 08/26 [DOY 238] 3.9 hours of DSS-43 replaced 8.5 hours of DSS-45 and DSS-34 support released. Finally on 08/27 [DOY 239] DSS-34 supported 4.8 hours earlier than 6.3 hours scheduled later released to LCRO.  The total actual support for the period was 23.9 hours of which 15.5 hours were large aperture coverage.  There were no significant outages.

Science instrument performance was nominal for all activities during this period.  The EDR backlog is 9 days.

Flight System Performance

Voyager 1 performance was nominal during this report period.

Voyager 2 performance was nominal during this report period.  Activities included a PMPCAL on 8/25 (DOY 237) and the implementation of ECR 108728 (shift of baseline events) and MRO on 8/26 (DOY 238).
