Voyager Mission Operations Status Report # 2009-09-04,  Week Ending  September 4, 2009

Command Transmission & Verification Operations

Voyager 1 command operations consisted of the uplink of a Command Loss Timer Reset on 09/02 [DOY 245/1715z].  The spacecraft received the command.

Voyager 2 command operations consisted of the uplink of a Command Loss Timer Reset, HPOINT 2 and CCSMRO MINI SEQ on 08/31 [DOY 243/0540z] and TLM PURG [243/1215z].   The TLM PURG was rescheduled due to a Red High Power Transmitter and transmitted on 09/01 [DOY 244/1315z].  The spacecraft received all commands sent and all commands were verified.

Sequence Generation Operations

Continue sequence development of CCSL A073.

Data Return Operations

Voyager 1 Data Processing and Operations:

There were 92.2 hours of DSN scheduled support for Voyager 1 of which 60.3 hours were large aperture coverage. There were four schedule changes made.  The first schedule change occurred on 08/29 [DOY 241] when 1.5 hours of DSS-43 support was released to LCRO.  The second change the following day on 08/30 [DOY 242] extended the existing DSS-15 track 0.8 hours earlier. The third change on 09/01 [DOY 244] added 1.2 hours of DSS-15 support.  The last change on 09/02 [DOY 245] substituted 6.4 hours of DSS-14 support in place of 5.2 hours of DSS-15 and DSS-25.  The total actual support for the period was 93.9 hours of which 65.2 hours were large aperture coverage.

There was one significant outage of 4.8 hours on 09/02 [DOY 245] due to a red antenna at DSS-63 [DR M105474].

Science instrument performance was nominal for all activities during this period.  One frame of GS-4 data was recorded this week.  A second frame of GS-4 data was recorded on September 4.  The EDR backlog is 2 day.

Voyager 2 Data Processing and Operations:

There were 65.1 hours of DSN scheduled support for Voyager 2 of which 19.7 hours were large aperture coverage. Three schedule changes were made releasing station time to support LCRO. The first change on 08/29 [DOY 241] substituted 2.3 hours of DSS-43 in place of 2.4 hours of DSS-45 support.  The second change on 08/30 [DOY 242] released 1.0 hours of DSS-34support.  The third change on 09/01 [DOY 244] released 2.8 hours of DSS-4 support.  The total actual support was 61.2 hours of which 22.0 hours were large aperture coverage.  There were no significant outages during the period.

Science instrument performance was nominal for all activities during this period.  The EDR backlog is 2 days.

Flight System Performance

Voyager 1 performance was nominal during this report period.

Voyager 2 performance was nominal during this report period.  Activity included turning on the AC Gyros on 9/4 (DOY 247).
