Voyager Mission Operations Status Report # 2014-04-25  Week Ending  April 25, 2014.

 

Command Transmission & Verification Operations

 

Voyager 1 command operations consisted of the uplink of a Command Loss Timer Reset on 04/23 [DOY 113/2010z].  The command was not sent due to the transmission of a TLC tune before the command radiation time instead of the scheduled time following the radiation time.

 

Voyager 2 command operations consisted of the uplink of seven bracketed Command Loss Timer Resets sent on five-minute centers using 0.5 Hz steps on 04/21 [DOY 111/1432z].   The commands were not sent due to a failure of the Transmitter Motor Generator [DR C110145].

 

Sequence Generation Operations

 

Continue sequence development of CCSL B164.

 

Data Return Operations

 

Voyager 1 Data Processing and Operations:

 

There were 77.3 hours of DSN scheduled support for Voyager 1 of which 64.9 hours were large aperture coverage. There were no real-time or schedule support changes made during the period.

 

There were three significant outages during the period due to a red antenna at DSS-14.  The first outage of 7.0 hours occurred on 04/20 [DOY 110, DR G114955].  The next outage of 9.3 hours occurred the next day on 04/21 [DOY 112, DR G114960].  The final outage of 6.8 hours occurred on 04/24 [DOY 144, DR G114972].

 

Science instrument performance was nominal for all activities during this period.  One frame of GS-4 data was recorded this week.  The second frame of GS-4 data was recorded on April 24.  The third frame of GS-4 data was recorded on April 19.  The EDR backlog is 2 days.

 

Voyager 2 Data Processing and Operations:

 

There were 81.8 hours of DSN scheduled support for Voyager 2 of which 57.1 hours were large aperture coverage. One schedule support change made on 04/22 [DOY 112] substituted 1.9 hours of DSS-45 support in place of DSS-43 down due to a failed link build [DR C110152]. The total actual support for the period was 81.8 hours of which 55.2 hours were large aperture coverage. 

 

There was one significant outage of 1.0 hour on 04/22 [DOY 112] due to a failed receiver at DSS-34 [DR C110150].

 

Science instrument performance was nominal for all activities during this period.  The EDR backlog is 2 days.

 

 

Flight System Performance

 

Voyager 1 performance was nominal during this report period.  Activities included a PMPCAL on 4/23 (DOY 113), switch to X-Band high power on 4/23 (DOY 114), DTR PWS high rate playback on 4/24 (DOY 114, and turning on Gyros B&C on 4/24 (DOY 115).

 

Voyager 2 performance was nominal during this report period.  Activity included switching to X-Band high power on 4/23 (DOY 113).
